Dr. Fernando Canastra, Ph.D.

Vice-Rector for Academic and Development Matters at UCM

Dr. F. Canastra earned his Ph.D. in Education Sciences from Universidade Aberta (Portugal). Along his academic career, he has been a Research Coordinator in the fields of Social Pedagogy and Research Methods. He has also been (a) Coordinator for research in the areas of Social Methodologies and Research Methodologies; b) Virtual tutors’ trainer in the courses of distance learning (b-learning and e-learning); (c) Scientific Coordinator in Research Centers; (d) External Examiner in Education’s General Inspection and (e) Supervisor for Dissertations and Thesis. In terms of research developed, he has got a lot publications in the areas of Education and Human Development, Education for Citizenship, Social Pedagogy and in Social and Community Intervention.
He is currently responsible for overseeing UCM’s Scientific Repository (Repositório Científico), as well as the edition of the university’s e-journal (Revista Electrónica de Investigação e Desenvolvimento). Until recently, he been Director for Instituto Integrado de Apoio à Investigação Científica (IIAIC-UCM), and he is currently the Vice-Rector for Academic and Development matters at UCM.
