Dr. Alberto Ferreira, Ph. D.

Rector of the Catholic University of Mozambique
Dr. Alberto Ferreira was born on September 13, 1970, in Nampula, Mozambique. He earned a BA Honors degree in Philosophy and another in Spiritual Theology from the Pontifical Urban University (Rome, Italy). The first degree is from the Faculty of Philosophy while the second is from the Faculty of Theology. In 1998, he completed his PhD in Philosophy in the same university. In 2010, he did his postgraduate studies in Political Science, Governance and International Relations at the Institute of Political Studies, Portuguese Catholic University.

From 2006 to the present, he holds the position of Rector of the Catholic University of Mozambique. From 2012 to 2013, he presided over the Council of Rectors of Mozambican universities. From 2006 to 2013, he was a member of the Council of Rectors and Member of the National Council for Higher Education in Mozambique. From 2002 to 2005, he was Assistant Parish Priest at St. Stephen Protomartyr Parish, in the Diocese of Rome, and from 1997 to 1998, he was a Member of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Secretariat, in the Archdiocese of Nampula. He was also Parish Priest of the Shrine of Maria Mãe do Redentor, in Meconta Parish (Meconta District), as well as Parish Priest for St. João Brito Parish (Muecate District), in the Archdiocese of Nampula.
